Like many mainstream artists, Taylor Swift
is often at the forefront of some sort of gossip. Whenever she releases a new song or album, Swifties thrive on speculating which ex-boyfriend she's condemning or celebrity (Katy Perry
cough cough) she's dissing. And this time, her new song "Gorgeous" is no exception for music fans who love to hypothesize about these specifics.
The country sweetheart-turned-pop princess gives us another formulaic single that'll be stuck in your head all day long. This particular song is about...well...I'll let Taylor's chorus do the explaining. She sings to a certain someone, "You're so gorgeous / I can't say anything to your face / ‘Cause look at your face / And I'm so furious / At you for making me feel this way / But, what can I say? / You're gorgeous."
She incorporates melodrama with lines such as, "Ocean blue eyes looking in mine / I feel like I might sink and drown and die."
Her signature attitude layers on top of something inherently sugary. So we get the typical Taylor blend of sweet and sass here. Sigh.
Her sixth album Reputation
is set for release on November 10th.
