CMJ Band Of The Day: RACES
    • THURSDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2011

Races, formerly known as Black Jesus, are successfully able to blend layers of instruments to create a lush, serene sound. Originally, the six members of Races only got together to perform a one-off show, but something more permanent coagulated. Their harmonies give the songs a character that allows the listener to hear their vulnerability—elastic bass lines, soft strings, and lightly distorted guitars flow in and out of each other in tandem. Hear them at our upcoming CMJ showcase this weekend, and for a sneak peak, stream one of their songs down below.
