Beatsmith Flying Lotus has released an "open source" video for his new tune "Kill Your Co-Workers" off the Pattern + Grid World EP. The video uses blocky, animated 3D models to depict a very interesting parade involving the wholesale slaughter of a large number of people by robots.

Now for the open-source part: all of the 3D models used to create this video are available for free here to animators who wish to use them in their projects or to create their own visual take on the tune. Flying Lotus also invites animators to share their (possibly less violent?) creations with other fans through this Vimeo group.

The "open source video" is the latest in a string of multimedia offerings by Flying Lotus, including the Cosmogramma Fieldlines "augmented reality" app, which allows users to manipulate images designed by Flying Lotus himself via webcam or mouse, and a pair of web games entitled "Destroy" and "Attack." All of these are available in the "fieldlines" section of his website for free.

Pattern + Grid World is a follow-up to Flying Lotus' critically acclaimed full-length Cosmogramma, which came out earlier this year. Both albums are available now on Warp Records. Flying Lotus will be touring Europe through the end of the month in support of his work. -peter menniti
