Self-described "beach goth" band The Growlers released a fast-paced new video for their single "I'll Be Around" off of their latest LP City Club. Deviating from their usual sound, this album is produced by lead singer of The Strokes, Julian Casablancas, and features more post-punk and synth-pop sounds. City Club features songs that are much more densely produced than The Growlers' previous music. This is evident on "I'll Be Around," a song which features synth heavy production and a throwback sound. This nod to the past is mirrored in the video, which has a late 70s style, including plaid pants and feathered boas, as well as disco dance moves and conga lines. In this goofy video, frontman Brooks Nielsen arrives at a hospital where he promptly dies, only to return as a ghost ready to dance and party with his friends as well as the nurses and doctors. Cheesy special effects and cheap props give the feel of a B-movie production, but also give it the informal tone of a bunch of friends having a good time.
