Today we're premiering the live acoustic video for "Meantime" from 19-year-old singer Chappell Roan
. "I keep my doubts in the back of my mind and I still love you in the meantime / Cut me slack while I figure it out and I'll still love you in the meantime,"
Roan sings with a velvety smooth tone, not requesting the person to wait for her but submissively asking for permission. She's not sure what she wants, but she wants to keep a promise... It's a heartbreaking song that's not about the breakup, but the calm before the storm. The simple live video that comes along with it enhances its beauty - a warm, golden light glows behind Roan as she effortlessly sings.
The song is off of the singer's excellent debut EP School Nights,
which was released just last month. "'Meantime' was the most difficult to write on the EP," Roan shared with Baeble. "For me, it was wanting two things at the same time, that I couldn't have. Basically saying, can you give me time to figure myself out and I'll still love you the best I can in the meantime."
