The Flaming Lips Play Miley Cyrus Collabs Minus Miley

For me, the Flaming Lips ended In 2006 after At War With The Mystics. Anytime I hear any new material they've recorded since then, it just depresses me and reminds me of what a great band they used to be and what potential they had so I've recently avoided them. That being said, following their recent collaboration with Miley Cyrus first on With A Little Help From My Fwends and their contribution to Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, they've been almost impossible to ignore (If you haven't listened to Dead Petz, don't; it's ninety-two minutes of utter agony).

However after their performance on SNL and a new tour coming, you can't deny the Lips' resurgence in relevancy and popularity thanks to Miley (or maybe she's to blame...). However, at a secret show in California, the Lips played two songs from Cyrus' new album with Wayne Coyne taking the lead on vocals, and you know what, it isn't half bad. Maybe I'm just another "Small minded motherfucker" as Wayne points out halfway through "Karen Don't Be Sad" but hearing him again makes me nostalgic for better times...(those better times involve pink robots and heroin, but there's no denying they were good times.)
