Critically acclaimed "gypsy punk" group Gogol Bordello offered up a typically energetic performance of their tune "Pala Tute" on Jay Leno last night. As always, the group was a blast to watch, offering up manic punk-rock energy and gypsy-inspired melodies on acoustic guitars, accordian and violin backed with bass and lots of percussion.

The multi-national group, which is based in New York but hails from places as diverse as Scotland, Russia, and Ethiopia, made their major-label debut on American Recordings (a Rick Rubin run subsidiary of Sony) with Intercontinental Hustle this past April. They are currently touring the world in support of the album, including some North American dates with Forro in the Dark. -peter menniti
