With all the mash-ups, genre jumpers, post-insert-genre-here, it's refreshing to hear a band bust out some straightforward rock n' roll. And that is exactly what New York quartet The Shake are doing. The band is back with a new cut off of their recent release Sweet n Sour Vol. 2: "Color War," featureing The Shake's knack for gutsy riffs and heavy rhythms. The blistering lead guitar lick sets the tone for the track while singer Jon Merkin howls out lines like "For playing the fool / For playing God / And f*ck the consequences." The track rolls from there, moving effortlessly between a blues-y verse and a rocking chorus, not to mention the face-melting solos. Check it out.
