CMJ Band of the Day: Scattered Trees

Scattered Trees are a 5-piece band from the outskirts of Chicago that recently came back together after taking a break and scattering throughout the country. They're currently on tour to promote their new album, Sympathy, which came out in April via Roll Call Records. The album deals with love and loss, as the songs were written after lead singer Nate Eieslands father passed away. As a result, their music has a paradoxically fragile yet empowering quality, with heart wrenching lyrics and harmonies, and fresh instrumentals that build and burst. If you're in the mood for a little catharsis, then you'll dig on their set while singing along to choruses like, "It haunts me that everybodys falling apart/But you said I'll be there when you wake up from this dream/I'm waiting here/I'm waiting for you."
