Just in case you'd gotten tired of the New Pornographer's
latest album (Brill Bruisers
, for those not in the know) the band's just gone and released another music video to keep your attention. Made for the track "Dancehall Domine," this little vignette pays more than a little tribute to the independent Italian and French cinema of the late 60s and 70s. Perfectly absurd and featuring a number of delightfully lifeless stares from just about everyone in the band and beyond (no, seriously, this may be the most enjoyable element of the video; everyone stares like a fish all of the time except for the one perfect moment at about 1:47 that finds Kathryn Calder shooting paranoid little glances to the side), it's a fun video that also manages to slip in a few sly jabs at media saturation, as well.
