There once was a time when Mumford & Sons were but a buzzy little band on the horizon, wooing critics and collecting fans show by show, one mp3 download at a time. We've reached absolute Mumford mania by now, of course. But once, way back when, Mumford & Sons were a secret you couldn't wait to share with your friends.

On the other hand, Alt-J, the somewhat experimental British quartet that pretty much sound like nothing else out there, ARE currently that band. So Mumford's stirring take on Alt-J's "Tessellate" feels a bit like passing the torch or a subtle anointment of sorts. Have a look below and do do DO pick up both band's new albums, An Awesome Wave and of course the beautifully titled Babel.

Once you've gobbled that bit of goodness, be sure to check out our videos from each band below.
