It was recently announced that Pink will be singing the National Anthem before Super Bowl LII festivities. She now joins the long list of female artists who have had the honor of performing the notoriously difficult-to-sing "Star-Spangled Banner". She will also be joining her former tour mate Justin Timberlake, who is set to play at halftime. 2018 will mark Timberlake's third time performing at the Super Bowl, while this is Pink's first time ever singing at the event. Back in October, the singer released her seventh studio album Beautiful Trauma, her first album in five years.

While we await her performance at the Super Bowl this year, we take a glimpse back at the long list of female artists who have sung and left their imprint on the famous anthem. Now, this list doesn't include every single female singer who have performed the anthem at the Super Bowl, but instead it's a list of the most popular ones.

    Diana Ross (1982)
    Whitney Houston (1991)
    Jewel (1998)
    Cher (1999)
    Faith Hill (2000)
    Mariah Carey (2002)
    Dixie Chicks (2003)
    Beyonce Knowles (2004)
    Jordin Sparks (2008)
    Carrie Underwood (2010)
    Christina Aguilera (2011)
    Kelly Clarkson (2012)
    Alicia Keys (2013)
    Renee Fleming (2014)
    Indina Menzel (2015)
    Lady Gaga (2016)

And here you can find the videos to the most memorable performances we thought you should relive. We didn't want to include every single one because well, there are only so many times you can listen to the National Anthem. You're welcome.

    Whitney Houston (1991)

This performance is said to have set the bar for how the anthem should be sung. Her voice moved the nation as the country was just ten days into the first Gulf War when she performed this. You'll get chills watching this even after all these years.

    Mariah Carey (2002)

No competition here as Mariah Carey holds her own as she sings her rendition of the song. In true Mariah form, she is sexy and adds her signature high pitch notes that we all love. It is said that this might have been pre-recorded but it's too late for any of us to care now. We fell in love with this performance.

    Beyonce Knowles (2004)

We had to add Queen Bey's performance because she can literally do no wrong. This might not be her best performance but she also doesn't fall short. She had the honor of singing this in Houston, Texas where she's originally from.

    Christina Aguilera (2011)

This performance is memorable but not for the right reasons. Unfortunately, Christina's voice sounded great at the beginning but towards the end it just disappoints. There is no denying the woman has amazing voice power but in this video she seems to be screaming the end of the song instead of singing. It's said she also messed up the lyrics along the way. Not a good way to honor America, if you ask me. Still worth the watch though.

    Lady Gaga (2016)

This is one of my favorite Lady Gaga performances and it's quite frankly thanks to her theatrical mannerisms. Her performance was more theatrical than Indina Menzel's, who is a TV and Broadway star that sang the National Anthem the year before. Her voice was perfect and nothing short of impressive in true Gaga form.
