Kendrick Lamar is an artist in every sense or possible definition of the word. Last night, Kendrick debuted a new track, "Untitled 2" on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that left me, a person who listens to and writes about new music every day, with my jaw on the floor. After listening to the song to the FIFTH time in a row, I asked my editor, "Is it just me or is Kendrick everything Kanye was minus everything bad about Kanye." to which he responded by saying "He's all of Kanye's talent with 1/4 of the ego."
Kendrick managed to make two of the greatest albums of the 2010's and if you remember about a year ago, he played an amazing untitled piece as the last musical guest on The Colbert Report which still has not been officially released. Apparently, Kendrick has a neverending supply of amazing untitled songs (let's face it they're more than songs, they're stories) that he can just do a one-off performance of on late night shows. Performing with a live band (a performance choice I respect to the ends of the earth) the new voice of Compton delivered another lyrical masterpiece with the same thought put into the musical composition as any track from To Pimp A Butterfly.
