Has it really been four years since we got a new Yeasayer record? We were all big fans of Fragrant World when it came out in 2012. Yeasayer have always pushed the boundaries of how weird a pop-rock record can be while still remaining accessible to a wider "indie" audience. That said, after Fragrant World was released, the band more or less disappeared off the face of the planet besides two live albums. Thankfully, they're back with a new single, "I Am Chemistry."
And for anybody who's spaced out to the proggy eccentricities of "Henrietta" or "Ambling Alp" as many times as we have, you should fall right back in love with Yeasayer. The track sounds like an acid trip through children's choral music. We realize that sounds...slightly crazy, but this is Yeasayer, and the band makes it work. There still isn't any official announcement of a new record, but there's little chance that this track doesn't mean we're going to be hearing more from the band in the near future.
