This Friday, Sampha
is going to shock the world when his debut album, Process
, finally drops because, for 6 years now, he's been a behind-the-scenes musician for other artists and deserves way more credit. Sampha has worked with everyone from Drake to Solange Knowles to SBTRKT but now it is the London-based singer's time to shine. With only days separating us from the release date of Sampha's album, he has shared two videos for the emotional ballad called "No One Knows Me (Like The Piano)".
It's a track with a powerful sense of nostalgia as Sampha explains how a piano appeared in his mother's south London home and changed his life. The first video is pretty traditional and features model and activist, Adwoa Aboah, gliding around a room as golden dust mimics her movements. With only natural light shining from the ceiling, Aboah admire's him as he plays the piano in the empty room.
The second video is a virtual reality video, which allows you to move about the room with Aboah and gives you a 360-degree look at Sampha's surroundings. It's a collaboration with YouTube and gives you sort of an emotional attachment to the song as you put yourself behind Sampha's piano.
Sampha will be on tour with the xx this spring and Process
will be out this Friday, February 3rd.
