After posting a mysterious morse code message on their Facebook page that translated to the word "kindred," we now have a confirmation that it is the official name of Passion Pit's upcoming album.
The record, their latest since 2012's Gossamer, will be released via Columbia in April. The band also posted a YouTube video with a link to their website as a description. What will the Boston electro-pop band's new music sound like? They've struggled with being pegged as a light-hearted indie band, though their songs do deal with some heavy issues. Their video from 2012's "Cry Like a Ghost" was pretty dark, featuring a girl running in the woods and crying as she relives her past relationships. The teaser for Kindred appears lighthearted, at least on the surface: the shadows of two happy children walk off into the sunset, holding hands. We take the video-and the demos posted on Souncloud earlier this month- as a sign that Michael Angelakos is in a good mood, and Kindred will be an upbeat, fuzzy feeling album.
