Early last year Colyn Cameron and his pork pie hat tip-toed through a small crowd seated in our basement and introduced a lucky group of New Yorkers to Wake Owl's unique bond of folky pop and retro rock. Now with a debut album release on the horizon, the young, Vagrant eccentric is showing subtly significant growth. "Letters", the latest single from the album The Private World of Paradise, is underlined by a simple and woeful rockabilly groove, but it hooks with an invigorating funk kick, layered with a pulsing snare and a hip-swaying bass line. The album was produced by The Shins' Richard Swift (Foxygen, Tennis), whose understated touch has an effect that echoes that of Danger Mouse.

    Listen to "Letters" below.

The Private World of Paradise is due out March 4th via Vagrant. Pre-order your copy here. Watch Wake Owl's performance at the Baeble HQ below.
