With the passing of Blue's legend Etta James last week, we've been inundated with tributes from musicians of all musical shapes and sizes. Yesterday, musical powerhouse Adele, who we can all thank for helping Blues resurface once again as an honorable and endlessly radio-friendly genre, blogged a short, genuinely heartfelt tribute to James. Here's what she had to say:

What a lady Etta James was. She was the ultimate original. Her voice was breath taking and her songs are reflections we all recognise in some way or another. Its an honour every time I hear her voice. I saw her at BB Kings in New York a few years ago, and it was something I will remember forever. Thank you to Etta James. And i send all my love to her family and friends xxxx

With that, here's a clip of Adele performing a stunning cover of James' "Fool That I Am," on 1/14/2009 at the Somerville Theater in Massachusetts. THOSE PIPES!
