Underground rap group Ratking
are gearing up for their first official full length, So It Goes
(album art pictured above), a follow-up to their excellent 2012 EP Wiki93
. The young rappers have been playing DIY clubs in New York for a while now, but have been making a name for themselves opening for big-name acts like RZA, and most recently they were announced to have spots locked down for Coachella and Governors Ball this summer. The new single off the album, "Canal", exemplifies how Wiki's confrontational agility is contrasted by Hak's smooth-like-butter flow. Producer Sporting Life provides trapped out beats that include an electronic element that's boldly embodied in Ratking's music.
We recently chatted with one third of Ratking, Hak, who spoke about So It Goes
was basically Wiki's own sketch," he told us. "This is a broader idea that captures all time; the past, the now, and the future."
Listen to "Canal" below.
So It Goes
is out April 8th on XL.
