Yesterday Kishi Bashi
released the video for "In Fantasia
," and it's a gorgeously captivating drama steeped in the realism of un-romanticized romance, and the tension between love's haves and have nots. Today, in the emotional aftermath of the 7 minute short, we reflect to the tune of Bashi's at once eloquent and energetic live performance.
Back in 2013 Bashi was fresh off the release of his debut album, and met us for an acoustically special performance in the dining room of New York City's famous SOHO joint, Brinkley's Broome Street restaurant. Tiled from floor to ceiling, and holding a uniquely charming aura of finery laid just above the gritty street of Chinatown. It was a perfect location for Bashi, whose upbringing as a classical violinist is styled by his love for metal and drum and bass.
#TBT to the sometimes soothing, sometimes thrilling, and always articulate performance of Kishi Bashi, live at Brinkley's Broome Street. Get your copy of Lighght here
