just released her video for "Trainwreck," one of the more angsty songs on her latest album, The Altar.
When the pop singer released the videos for "Fuck With Myself" and "Gemini Feed," it was clear she was choosing to go for a darker, creepier look. But now she's out with "Trainwreck" and the creepiness is completely blown out of proportion. It starts off with BANKS all glammed up on a TV screen and I'm like "okay, this is nice," but then this creepy group of guys with horrible prosthetics come in and follow her around. They pull her around on a bed, they watch her from afar, and they dance with her, but perhaps the most creepy part is when they get intimate with her. Right before the clip ends, we see BANKS on top of one of the creepy men, and when it looks like she's going in for a kiss, she stomps on his head and it deflates, making a squeaky noise that is scarily similar to a dog toy. I physically cringed at this part, with every fiber of my being.
Although it's creepy as hell, BANKS' artistic vision is very real and true, and it shines through more than ever with "Trainwreck." It has the same attitude but this time with more layers, details, and a more intricate story to tell.
