    We all know of director Paul Thomas Anderson's greatness from seeing his creations like Boogie Nights and Magnolia, but apparently, one of his greatest masterpieces never surfaced; The John Brion Show, a musical variety program created for VH1.

    As Indiewire indicates, Anderson created the show's pilot at some point in 1999 or 2000, which featured Brion along with Elliott Smith and Brad Mehldau.

    Anderson recently shared the pilot footage from a VHS tape which he claims to have discovered beneath the floorboards of his "H.Q." This is all unraveling like the plot of some Paul Thomas Anderson movie, amirite?

    Watch Elliott Smith play his own classics like "Son of Sam," "Independence Day," "Bottle Up and Explode," "Everything Means Nothing to Me," and "Happiness," as well as covers of John Lennon's "Jealous Guy," the Kinks' "Waterloo Sunset," and Big Star's "Nighttime."
