had a busy year in 2017. He appeared in the leading role in Edgar Wright's acclaimed Baby Driver,
and even featured on Logic's album Everybody
, popping up on the song "Killing Spree". It's his own music that's the focus in 2018 though, and he's just dropped the title track, complete with accompanying visual, from his upcoming EP Supernova
The video is helmed by director Colin Tilley, known for working with people like Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj, some of whom you just might have heard of. It's a dimly-lit visual, which features a sweat-drenched Elgort waking up in his bed disoriented, before traversing a dark urban landscape full of steaming vents, ambient red lights, and mysterious dark figures. He gets rained on, he plays hopscotch, and he looks a little lost as he bops his way around. Don't worry though, Elgort seems to have escaped this predicament by the end of the song, finding a crack of daylight and emerging bathed by the blinding sun.
The song sees Elgort singing of dreams, regret and longing, against the musical background of a trappy pop beat. It's straightforward and catchy, calling on the musical trends of 2017 and well-worn themes of lost love, uncertainty, and missed opportunity. Elgort's star has been steadily rising over the past few years and it wouldn't be at all surprising to see the popularity from his acting career transfer over to his musical pursuits.
