I thought long and hard about whether or not I should even post this. I try my best to avoid festival news/rumors sites because half the appeal of big festivals is the surprise when the lineup is finally announced, and more than any other festival, Bonnaroo has tried to turn their lineup announcements into a fun spectacle in recent years (a trend that peaked with the Weird Al Yankovic "telethon" a few years back). But news is news and sometimes you have a journalistic responsibility to report it.
Last night, I was at a show for work when my phone/twitter started blowing up with news that Bonnaroo's non-headliners (and probably also not the top of the card that aren't headliners) had leaked on the festival's mobile app. Considering I've only missed one Bonnaroo since 2012, I already had the app installed on my phone. I checked to see if the rumor was true. And it was. This is a major security leak of massive proportions, and we won't be surprised if somebody on the Bonnaroo team winds up losing their job cause of what happened. So much for the big announcement of the lineup on Conan
next week (though they thankfully should still have the headliners and the rest of the top of the card left).
So what about this leaked lineup? There are some great gets (although not many bands that haven't been mainstays on most of the rest of the festival lineups this year) including Miguel, Tame Impala, Third Eye Blind, Ellie Goulding, Chvrches, Haim, Father John Misty, Death Cab For Cutie, Bully, and Blood Orange. Head to this Reddit thread
to find the rest of the leaked performers. We'll still be here when the rest of the lineup gets officially announced next week.
