fun facts of the day: album sales

A list of data is roaming around the internet, regarding the sales statistics of Pitchfork's Top 50 albums (according to Nielsen Soundscan). A sum of the list reveals that if you combine the sales numbers of all fifty albums, it's not quite twice the number of times a single someone purchased Dark Horse (the last Nickelback album).

Remove just five of the fifty (Kanye, Arcade Fire, Rick Ross, Badu and Vampire Weekend), and Nickelback's album sold more. Looks like the cool kids are still winning (at not being noticed), despite the fact that no one buys records anymore.

    See the stats here.

What does this mean? It's a slow day for videos of cats doing things, that's what!
