appeared on Z100 earlier this morning for a nice little talk with Elvis Duran
. Although he was obviously there to promote his upcoming album, Divide,
they also talked about other little fun things - like how it is apparently National Kiss a Ginger Day.
However, something interesting happened when Duran asked Sheeran if he's discovered any new artists lately, and around the 66:30 mark, Sheeran told us about this lovely up-and-coming singer who goes by the name of Yebba
(which is her real name, Abbey, spelt backwards). He turned us onto a live Sofar Sounds performance of her original song "My Mind" and admitted it made him cry.
And we can see why, as this video got passed around the Baeble office and suddenly, none of us could hold it together. The song is about 6 minutes and the NYC singer's soulful voice keeps you captivated the whole way through. Her cries and jarring runs are chaotic, yet so controlled. This performance is a whole new level of emotion, as it seems like Yebba is telling this story for the very first time, on the verge of tears.
We simply cannot get enough of this one and hope there's more coming. Shouts to Ed for hooking it up with the awesome new artists.
