To celebrate David Bowie
's 70th birthday a few days ago, a never-heard-before EP, No Plan,
was released. In addition to a re-packaging of the single "Lazarus," we were gifted with three new tracks, "When I Met You" being one of them.
"When I Met You" really sticks out as a hopeful, optimistic track. Bowie is reminiscing on the time when he met someone important in his life and how they changed him. "When I met you, I was too insane / Could not trust a thing, I was off my head / I was filled with truth, it was not God's truth / Before I met you."
The track almost feels like a demo, with all of the music more in the distance. Because of this, it feels like real and authentic rock - not overworked, just letting the emotion take over.
