Show Review

After catching Purity Ring's opening set for Dirty Projectors on Tuesday, it was clear that the electro-pop duo had some serious electro-chops. "Fineshrine," from their forthcoming debut album "Shrines", convinces us further that Purity Ring is just going to keep getting bigger. The musical interaction between Corin Roddick's cutting and looping of Megan James's vocals keeps "Fineshrine" from being just another pop song.

Artist Bio

Purity Ring are a Canadian electronic music duo originally from Edmonton, formed in 2010. The band consists of Megan James (vocals) and Corin Roddick (instrumentals).

Megan James and Corin Roddick, aged 24 and 21 respectively in April 2012, formed Purity Ring in 2010. Both grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. James played piano and Roddick played drums prior to the band's inception, however neither currently play them as their primary instrument for Purity Ring. During live shows, Roddick uses a custom-built, tree-shaped instrument to drive both live sound and lighting.Additionally, during live appearances both wear clothes custom designed and sewn by James. James uses written work which she originally did not intend to release to the public for many of the band's lyrics.
