Monks of Mellonwah takes their song "Ghost Stories" to a crazy level in a padded cell.
The Monks of Mellonwah (MOM) are an award winning four-piece alternative rock and indie band based in Sydney, Australia. The band has toured nationally and internationally, travelling to the United States twice, winning awards for Best International Act (LA Music Awards 2012) and Best Indie Rock Band (2012 AIM Awards).
MOM has been described as the 'birth child of such bands as Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin (Middle Tennessee Music 2013). Their sound is something of an amalgamation of the psychedelic sounds of the 70's, the searing alternative rock sounds of the 90's and the epic, emotive feelings of film inspired music. Their first two EPs and subsequent music videos gained them worldwide critical acclaim, airplay on MTV networks and extensive radio play that has lead to a number of syncs to popular TV shows including MTVs The Real World.
In addition to international and national radio play, College Radio in the US and Canada, MOM have received hundreds of reviews and features worldwide, including coverage on MTV, Big Takeover Magazine, CMJ, Kings of A&R, Absolute Punk and Passport Approved. Media attention has earned them licensing spots through a number of production companies in the US including Discovery Networks and Bunim Murray whilst there video Neverending Spirit also received high profile exposure in the US including MTV Networks.
Moving forwards, 2013 is shaping up as an explosive and potentially breakout year for MOM. Since the highly successful release of their experimental trilogy Sky And The Dark Night, which grabbed the attention and imagination of international magazines, music blogs and community radio, resulting in high praise and 8 min long full trilogy spins on radio, MOM are now celebrating signing with A&R Worldwide (Muse, Coldplay, The Temper Trap) with the release of their 4th EP 'Ghost Stories. 'Ghost Stories is the first instalment of MOMs much anticipated debut album 'Turn The People that is to be released in 3 volumes with the final instalment due for release in December 2013.
Since recently performing live at Music Matters in Singapore, MOM are about take their live show on an East Coast Tour of Australia starting on June 29th in their home town of Sydney.
