Show Review

Emerging from the seemingly endless, ruthlessly harsh, and snowy winters of Moscow, comes the buzzworthy electronic pop group, Esthetix. Based on their shared appreciation for a variety of diverse records ranging from Metronomy, to Talking Heads, to Broken Social Scene, Ilya Kusnirovich recruited his band during their time at the Russian State University for the Humanities. The ensemble rapidly saw success through their melodious singles, on-air radio appearances, and impressive live shows, becoming a local favorite. With their latest EP release, Shelter, the quintet captures a 60s pop aesthetic, combining it with a modern electronic edge, effectively composing both captivating and danceable tunes. Their tranquil and relaxed energy found on their EP matches its Neil Krug (Lana Del Rey, Foals, First Aid Kit) commissioned cover art.

Today, we're happy to be premiering the music video for "Promised Land", which portrays the norning expedition of a grandfather and granddaughter through the misty and slumbering city of Moscow. Their journey eventually leads them to their very own promised land, featuring a mysteriously hazy swimming pool, a high-rise performance by the band members themselves, and an elegant synchronized swimming production that matches the graceful and fluid consistency of the track. Esthetix are set to release their forthcoming debut album on Kometa Records, inspired by dreams, films, the weather, our childhood memories, or skating in the city park. With plenty more on the way from the Russian outfit, I'm positive this isn't the last we've heard from Esthetix.
