East India Youth's black and white video treatment for "Dripping Down" is a bit misleading, as its gospel-tinged pulse bursts with color. From the album Total Strife Forever.
East India Youth is just one Londoner William Doyle. His work shows off an ambitious talent. Total Strife Forever ranges from ambient passages, through neo-classical episodes and Detroit techno through to effervescent melodic electronic pop songs. It's an ambitious work and heralds the arrival of a singular new talent. Inspirations along the way included the output of Tim Hecker, Brian Eno, the orchestral/electronic combinations explored on Bjork's Homogenic and continued on Sufjan Stevens' Age of Adz and some more classical pieces in the shape of Shostakovich and Arvo Part.
