Show Review

A few months back we teamed up with our friends ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead to give the band's seventh record the kind of boisterous release day party it truly deserved. After all, Tao Of The Dead an extraordinary record; one our own Derrick Wiest recently declared "one of their most engaging albums to date". A celebration was obviously in order.

And so our camera crew, the band, and a flock of their closest 400 fans crammed into the back room of Littlefield in South Brooklyn for an exclusive release day performance/shoot of songs new and old. Slimmed down from the brawny six piece outfit that entertained our cameras a couple years back, Conrad Keely and Jason Reece's newly realigned outfit echoes the more elemental and urgent qualities of the new songs that inhabit Tao. Unlike the highly constructed strides into prog rock the band took with their '09 release Century of Self, the band's latest seems a much more spontaneous animal in make-up; as if getting back to the basics, hell...getting back to just having fun playing, seemed the primary motivation this time around.

From the looks of this exclusive concert release, the band is definitely enjoying themselves. This is one of the first live documentations of material from Tao, and we feel absolutely privileged to have had it happen before our cameras. Check out this special performance from Trail of Dead exclusively on Baeble. Then be sure to pick up a slew of tickets to the bands upcoming tour with Surfer Blood. The tour dates section has all the information you need.
