Show Review

Earlier this summer, Future Generations swung by Industry City in Brooklyn to deliver a killer set at one of the latest Bands + Brews, presented by Baeble Music. As the sun settled into the skyline, the NYC-based quintet enhanced the warm August breeze with their soaring electric guitars and nostalgic vocals.

The indie rockers performed some new songs, like their latest single "One More Problem" which was released just the month before via Frenchkiss Records. This moment really made us feel like we were at a stadium rather than an outdoor courtyard. Frontman Eddie Gore's pop-tinged vocal boasted similarities to MGMT or Foster The People, especially when paired with the band's psychedelia-flavored music. In addition to hearing a new single, the band also played a handful of cuts off of their self-titled 2016 album, like "Rain," "Grace," and "Black & Bleu," amongst others.

Already sick of the cold fall weather? Fear not, because our latest Bands + Brews concert with Future Generations is bound to warm you up.

Transcript

for coming out to our Bands + Brews Sessions here at Industry City.
Rain is impatient.
There is time.
Wash away all the dirt and all the grime.
Growing our old spud.
It brings tears from the sky.
It's bad.
It's bad.
It's bad.
It's bad. It's bad to dry.
It's bad.
It's bad.
It's bad.
It's bad. It's bad to dry.

I just can't wait 'til it pours.
I just can't wait 'til it rains.
I just can't wait 'til it pours.
I just can't wait 'til it rains.
I just can't wait 'til it pours.
I just can't wait 'til it rains.
I just can't wait 'til it rains.
- Two, three, four.
Grace, I don't wanna see you crying now.
I don't wanna see those lights
go out over something small like me.
It takes every shred of heart I've got left
to keep it bottled up in my chest.
I tried my best to breathe.
So if you wanna know, if you wanna know,
I'm sitting in the cold, sitting in the cold.
There's a knot in my stomach.
My head might just plummet.
I want you.
I need you, but I'm just stuck.
I'm just stuck.
Grace, I'm quickly making friends with the floor.
Moneys can't support me anymore.
I'm so empty.
Taste.
I can taste it all in your skin.
It's like you never even had to sin To make it all so good.
So if you wanna know, if you wanna know,
I'm sitting in the cold, sitting in the cold.
There's a knot in my stomach.
My head might plummet.
I want you.
I need you, but I'm just stuck.
I'm just stuck.
There's no more changing now.
There's no more changing now.
There's no more changing now.
There's no changing now.
There's no changing now.
There's no changing now.
There's no changing now.
There's no changing.
We're going to play a couple new ones for you.
I hope that's okay.
This one's called "One More Problem.
" You left your morals in an old hotel.
Now you've got one more problem.
You've got one more problem.
I want to hear it from the man himself.
Now he's got one more problem.
He's got one more problem.
Don't you remember? Don't you remember who you are?
Don't you remember? Don't you remember who you are?
You've got to deal with this all by yourself because this is not my problem
This is not my problem.
My patience has been thrown into the wind.
This is not my problem.
It's not my problem.
Don't you remember who you are?
Don't you remember? Don't you remember who you are?
- Are you exactly who I really think you are?
You're not exactly who I really think you are.
Ha
- Don't you remember? Don't you remember who you are?
Don't you remember? Don't you remember who you are?
Thanks.
So, we're Future Generations.
We live in Brooklyn so it was really easy to get here.
We're going to hang out here a lot.
This place is awesome and I think we're going to come back.
Time slows down down,
down to a crawl.
But these weeks go by like they never happened to me
One foot on the ground.
The other is on sound.
So I go back down to my knees.
I had a delayed reaction.
A delayed reaction.
How do you live in the past?
How do you, how do you Life will go
along without me,
so why can't we live with our dignity?
Believe me when I say
there won't be another day
where I won't be mad with the happy rain.
I had a delayed reaction, a delayed reaction.
How do you live in the past?
How do you, how do you Won't you listen to me?
There is time. I'm stuck.
So why can't we just slow ourselves down?
I had a delayed reaction, a delayed reaction.
How do you live in the past?
How do you, how do you I live with such great compassion, with such great compassion.
You've got your place to die.
Don't die on me.
One, two, one, two, one, two, three, four!
Everything you said to me, everything that you have written down,
I swear that it's engraved in me.
I couldn't forget it if I wanted to.
Trust me, I do.
Black, black, black and bleu.
I know what you want to do.
I just need you.
Ye-ye-yellow green, I'll be what you want to be. I just need you.
Yeah-oh!
Father, Son and Holy Ghost, whoever raced the fastest gets the most.
I've got a couple enemies, but isn't that what friends are for?
Yeah, they are black, black, black and bleu.
I'll do what you want to do.
I just need you.
Ye-ye-yellow green, I'll be what you want to be. I just need you.
I can't...I can't...hey ho!
And so you'd be afraid,
but that was yesterday.
You come back to me today,
but I sent you on your way.
There's a place where we go, and I know, and I know.
Told me to run away,
but I sit here anyways.
The expression on my face has gone away.
There's a place where we go, and I know, and I know.
There's a place where we go, and I know, and I know.
This place we go.
This place we go.
This place we go.
This place we go.
I can feel you.
I am hopeless once more.
All the times you stripped me down to the core,
all I see is my fragile heart in your hands.
I just want you to be around 'til the next day now.
Ah ah ah oh oh ah Ah ah ah oh oh oh
Ah ah ah oh oh oh Ah ah ah oh oh oh
I know that I'll be just fine.
I hope that I'll be just fine.
I know that I'll be just fine.
I know that I'll be...
Restless heartbeat, you had me flush from the start.
I'm getting coffee, fixated cold morning spark.
Mornin' sees me.
My body speaks for me now.
I just want you to be around for the next day now.
Ah ah ah oh oh ah Ah ah ah oh oh ah
Ah ah ah oh oh ah Ah ah ah oh oh oh
I know that I'll be just fine.
I know that I'll be all right, right, right, right, right, right, yeah.
Ah ah ah oh oh ah Ah ah ah oh oh oh
Ah ah ah oh oh ah Ah ah ah oh oh oh
All this time I've been looking at the stars, stars,
I never wondered what they really are...are.
It doesn't matter to me.
Baby, I just wanna live right.
You know that I can be the shining light of your life.
If you come to me close, cut the cable to outside.
It's taken years to open, but lately I've been close, the time, time.
I close the time.
Mind is aching as I look into the dark, dark.
My hands are shaking.
Would they make their mark, mark?
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
You've got to be something.
It's better if you tell yourself that you will never be alone.
Oh, if you come to me close, cut the cable to outside.
It's taken years to open, but lately I've been close, the time, time.
I close the time.
I want to tell you it's all right, but baby, there's more in sight.
So come on let's dive in the deep.
There's so much for us to lose, see.
If you come to me close, cut the cable to outside.
It's taken years to open, but lately I've been close, the time, time.
I close the time.
If you come to me close, cut the cable to outside.
It's taken years to open, but lately I've been close, the time, time.
I close the time.
Thank you.
I got you.
I got you.
Made you laugh.
- All right, guys, this is going to be our last song.
Thank you guys so much for being here.
It's been a lot of fun.
Once again, we're Future Generations.
This one's called... - Dance around with this one.
Use the space.
Use that space.
- "Coast.
" Sunlight, breaking through the cloud lines on the hot coast in summertime.
Turn and run away.
We're both too acquainted to be polite, too adjusted to pick a side,
but you're going your own way.
It sparkles and it shines, but is it made of gold?
And if true love is blind, can we ever be too close?
Coast, I don't want to loose you to a coast, coast.
I don't wanna loose you.
I don't wanna loose you to the coast.
Straight lines, don't rock the boat now. Smooth ride.
We're still here and we're both fine, so let's keep it that way.
New Light, I hear you romanticize the future. I'm paralyzed.
There will come a day.
It sparkles and it shines, but is it made of gold?
And if true love is blind, can we ever be too close?
Oh oh oh
I don't want to lose you to the coast.
- Coast.
I don't wanna lose you.
I don't want to lose you to the coast.
One, two, one, two, three, four.
That coast is calling your name.
I don't hear a sound.
Yeah! That coast is calling your name.
I don't hear a sound.
Yeah! That coast is calling your name.
I don't hear a sound.
That coast is calling your name.
I don't hear a sound.
Yeah. Now. Whoo!
Thank you, guys, so much.
You've been incredible.
We're Future Generations.
Have a great rest of your night.
Don't you remember? Don't you remember who you are?
