The Stanleys are a good indication of the world and times we live in.
Meeting and forming the band over Myspace; Australia's Mark Di Renzo (Gigantic) and Jamie Horsburgh collaborated with Norway's Tomas Dahl (Turbonegro), eventually hitting studios in Oslo, Paris, Perth and Sydney to track their first generation of songs the Always EP.
Given the nature of the band, it was quite fitting that The Stanleys introduced themselves via a 2011 world tour that saw them blister audiences across Europe, the USA, Japan and Australia with an itinerary of festivals, supports and headlining shows. Not a bad way to kick things off, really.
As far as the recording side of things, its a pretty effective combination of song-writers and players considering the members' other bands, but when you throw into the mix studio wizards like Ken Stringfellow (REM) and Andy Lawson (Eskimo Joe), it's got some pretty steady footing.
Releasing their debut Always EP this year, their upbeat infectious power pop has been greeted the world over with open arms. Londons Radio 2 has been spinning the single and US college radio loves The Stanleys with some 92 stations placing the EP on medium or high rotation!
The band have clocked up some more frequent flyer miles in 2012 introducing their sounds to the some very excited Chinese audiences on a live front and on Chinese TV. The boys returned to the US and Canada for a stack of shows including appearances at the prestigious NXNE Festival and the worlds largest music festival Summerfest.
And there's another US visit to come. The Stanleys head to the US to play the CMJ Festival in NYC and a run of other dates this October.
Veterans from opposite ends of the Earth, The Stanleys are a band that started out as nothing more than a little idea. Sometimes, though, a little idea can take you all over the world.
