Contemporary avant-rock band The Slip hails from Massachusetts, where the trio formed while attending Tabor Academy. After briefly enrolling in the Berklee School of Music, members Brad Barr (guitar, piano, vocals), Andrew Barr (drums), and Marc Friedman (bass) chose to drop out in 1996 and devote their full attention to the band.
The Slip has released no less than eight records in their decade-long career, from debut album From the Gecko to 2006's Eisenhower. While the group has roots in the jam-band scene and initially formed as a classic rock cover band, their evolving influences encompass everyone from U2 and Built to Spill to the Postal Service.
