My Grey Horse

Artist bio

With their layered four-part harmonies, swirling guitars and sweeping melodies, My grey horse aren't easily slotted into conventional music categories. Some have casually drawn comparisons to The Shins, Grandaddy, and "the folk-pop scene of the '60s". Hailing from Stratford-Upon-Avon, the five-piece formed in 2009. Brothers Peter, John, and Oobah Butler are joined by Tom Mott and Joe Nicklin to complete the line-up.

The band contains an illustrator, an animator, a published writer, and a filmmaker; a true idiosyncrasy that broadens their creative horizons. BBC6 & Fresh on the Net's Tom Robinson, Jace Lasek of Jagjaguwar's The Besnard Lakes, Gill Mills, and 'The Devil Makes The Best Tuna' have all hailed their song-writing, the latter referring to them as "alt-pop so smart it could ace a mensa test". Further success has come through the radio waves; with air-time and interviews on BBC6 Music, XFM and Amazing Radio.

My grey horse have been treading the live boards recently, bounding merrily between London, Oxford, and Birmingham way. Sold-out hometown shows, supporting 'Family of the Year' on their Summer 2012 tour, and being the BBC's Main Stage choice for Alex James' Harvest Festival in Oxfordshire are lofty highlights.

Winter 2012 will see My grey horse release their follow-up to The Marley Banks EP with a highly-anticipated sophomore effort with CRC.
