Emily Wells

Artist bio

Emily Wells is a performer, producer, singer and composer known for her varied use of classical and modern instrumentation as well as her deft approach to live sampling at shows. Classically trained as a violinist, she also plays drums, keys, beat machines and whatever else she can fit in her road case. These talents are showcased on her forthcoming album, Mama, out April 10th on Partisan Records. Wells recently put the finishing touches on the video for "Passenger," a striking, self-directed video that she says "is a collection of short videos taken while touring, moving postcards of light and wind." IFC premiered the video, which you can see here. She recently announced an additional string of Spring tour dates, hitting Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Seattle, and many other cities. Of course, she'll be having her official Album Release Show at the Bowery Ballroom next week (April 9th) in New York, with Dan the Automator and Live Footage.

Already amassing a large following over the years from a truly DIY approach that caught the attention of major outlets such as Spin, NPR, and Last Call with Carson Daly, it's no surprise that Emily Wells has some pretty intriguing collaborations up her sleeve. Already announced is the collaborative duo with Dan the Automator called Pillowfight, but remixes are in the works from the likes of Baths, The Blow, Teen Daze, and Dan the Automator himself. Stay tuned.
