RUBIES: EXPLODE FROM THE CENTER & DIAMONDS ON FIRE
RUBIES: EXPLODE FROM THE CENTER & DIAMONDS ON FIRE
SPIN included Rubies in its July "Buzzcatcher" column, and raved about the single "I Feel Electric" (from Explode From The Center), "...Alluring, zero-gravity, synth-pop frolic - through Kraftwerk's "Computer World" and beyond." Meanwhile, XLR8R says, "Rubies' Simone Rubi and Terri Loewenthal have a solid pop pedigree. While the breezy funk and '70s vocal harmonies of songs like "Room Without a Key" and "Too Bright" sound like Call and Response, Part 2, the duo truly shines when they veer onto the dancefloor. "I Feel Electric" is a catchy slice of electro-disco..." Exclaim calls Explode..."A great soundtrack for lazy, hazy Sunday afternoons."

Explode From The Center is also impacting at radio. The album has seen early adds and airplay from the likes of KCSU, KFSR KHSU, KEXP, KUMD, KCRW, KUOM, KVCU, KVMR, KXJZ, KCPR, WERU, WKDU, WDBM, WERU, KZSC, WLUW, WLVR, WRAS, WUSB, WUSC, WOXY.com, WXRT, with more is on the way.

Explode From The Center was preceded by a series of 12" / digital singles: Stand In A Line (April 28); I Feel Electric (May 19); Diamonds on Fire / Dreamhunt (June 16). The just-released Diamonds... single also marks the debut of the track "Dreamhunt," a new recording for 2009. There will be a video for the track as well. All singles include remixes, bonus tracks, etc. Full details/tracklisting below.

Rubies music is a mix of danceable folk, bedroom disco, and lost love laments, as showcased by stand out tracks "I Feel Electric," "Stand in a Line," "Diamonds on Fire," "The Truth and The Lies," and "Room Without a Key." Explode... was co-produced by Rubies and Karl - Jonas Winqvist (Blood Music, First Floor Power). The album also features guest appearances from Winqvist, Eirik Glambek-Be (Kings of Convenience), Maria Eriksson (The Concretes), Feist, Dan Judd (Sorcerer), and Lars Skoglund (Lykke Li & Peter, Bjorn & John).

Explode From The Center and "I Feel Electric (Remix)" single won raves from respected media outlets worldwide including Vice, Esquire, Artrocker, the Sunday Times, i-DJ, Mixmag, FACT, The Fader and many more. "I Feel Electric(Remix)" was also released via 12" single on NYC's Italians Do It Better last year. The album has been released in UK, Europe & Australia (Telle), Japan (Rallye) and individual territories including Sweden (Hybris), Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (Modern Soul). Rubies have toured in support of the release with the likes of Jamie Lidell, Whitest Boy Alive, Feist, Devendra Banhart, and Swedish pop star Jenny Wilson.
