New York, NY- The Machine keeps getting mightier...

Universal Republic recording artist Florence and The Machine is poised to become an even bigger story in 2010, with UK pop/soul sensation Florence Welch and her band about to kick off the most anticipated British invasion of U.S. live venues this year. The spring trek, part of her worldwide The Cosmic Love Tour, finds Florence playing her biggest NYC show to date at Manhattan's Terminal 5 on April 9th and will culminate with her taking the stage at the prestigious Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA on April 18, performing music off her critically acclaimed debut Lungs. See all tour dates below.

The 23-year-old star played her first U.S. headlining show this past October to rave reviews at New York's Bowery Ballroom. The accomplished vocalist is known to change-up both her inspired stagecraft and her musicians, ensuring that no two shows are alike, and that the emotive repertoire on Lungs always gets the full-course treatment from her legendary pipes.

Florence and The Machine on Tour:
4/5 - Philly @ Theatre of Living Arts
4/6 - DC @ 9:30 Club
4/7 - Boston @ Paradise Rock Club
4/9 - NYC @ Terminal 5
4/10 - Toronto @ Phoenix Concert Theatre
4/12 - Chicago @ House of Blues

4/15 - Seattle @ Showbox at the Market
4/17 - San Francisco @ Mezzanine
4/18 - Indio, CA @ Coachella

Florence's acclaimed debut album Lungs, which has been hailed as a breakthrough effort around the world, recently reached the number 1 spot on the UK chart after an incredible seven consecutive-month reign in the Top 40. The album is currently number 4 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers Album chart. Florence has also been nominated for three Brit Awards - Best Female Artist, Best Breakthrough Artist, and Best album for the much-heralded Lungs. The tenacious artist took home a Brit Awards Critic's Choice trophy last year, pegged as 'one of the most exciting new artists to debut in the British music scenes in years.' Florence and her band will perform live in a special collaboration with Dizzee Rascal at this year's awards on February 16th at London's Earl Court Arena. Most recently, Florence and the Machine have also been nominated for four Shockwave NME Awards.

Florence and the Machine's debut album was produced by Paul Epworth, James Ford, and Steve Mackay, and includes the songs "Kiss With A Fist," "Dog Days Are Over," "Drumming Song," "You've Got The Love," and "Cosmic Love," among others.

Florence has also joined a host of musicians in donating a special item for auction dedicated to helping victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Florence and The Machine donated a limited edition signed "You've Got The Love" print, partnering with the international relief and development organization, Oxfam, and their efforts to provide ongoing earthquake relief.

Critical Acclaim for Lungs:
Lungs was featured on the year end lists of People Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, Spin Magazine, and many more.

"There's also far more to her voice, bluesy curves, rock belting, Celtic melancholy and banshee quavers, pouring on emotion as the songs metamorphosed." The New York Times (live review)

"The debut from Britain's much-fussed-over Florence + the Machine finally hits the States, and it proves they're worth the adoration." Entertainment Weekly A-

"She lives up to her hype...boasting a powerful set of lungs, this siren alternately conjures up Kate Bush, Chrissie Hynde, and Sinead O'Connor, while displaying a flair for the macabre...and sweet." People Magazine's Critic's Choice

Rolling Stone's "Artist's To Watch 2009"

Spin's "Fall Albums That Matter The Most" - London firebrand Florence Welch is this year's most exhilarating new British artist." Spin's Review ****

"the music...is utterly original. Vogue

"Lungs carries a hopeful tone, even when the darker edges of Flo's pop and aluminum folk suggest otherwise." Bust

"Welch's huge voice dominates every moment of this debut and firmly establishes her as a major player among modern U.K. chanteuses." Blackbook

"Lungs- emphasizes Flo's heavenly howl a la Annie Lenox, Kate Bush and even early Sarah McLachlan" Teen Vogue

"Welch sets her unique ideas about romance to punk blues, Kate Bush-style mystic art rock and crazy-Celt bombast (where her voice skirts neaer the Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan's). The best bits feel like being chased through a moonless night by a sexy moor witch." Rolling Stone ***1/2

" Her bluesy wail, wonky fashion sense, and controversial take on domestic violence has set her on a permanent rotation in the heads of fans and music insiders alike." Interview Magazine

"Even more amazing than Welch's rapid ascent from "girl with a dream: to "next big thing" royalty? Her work stands up to the hype." Under The Radar

"...not so much a breathe of fresh air on the UK indie scene as a soul-wrenchingly melodic gust of wind." Nylon

"one of the most musically mature and emotionally mesmerizing albums." Allmusic
