Blind Pilot: From Bike Tours to TV appearances
Blind Pilot: From Bike Tours to TV appearances
FROM BIKE TOURS TO TV APPEARANCES, PORTLANDS BLIND PILOT CONTINUES TO GAIN ATTENTION AS THEY SUPPORT THIS SUMMERS THE DECEMBERISTS TOUR

"uniformly sturdy and sweet, drenched in brightly rustic instrumentation and some of the sweetest harmonies this side of such likeminded peers as The Avett Brothers and Fleet Foxes."NPRs "All Songs Considered"

"An exemplary bit of minimalist melancholyworking in the same areas as The Shins or Death Cab for Cutie, but with a more homespun, folk feel."iTunes

On May 24th, Blind Pilot began their summer tour opening for The Decemberists with dates in Denver, St. Louis, and Atlanta. Blind Pilot, a rising Portland, OR-based folk-pop/indie rock ensemble, has cut their teeth performing on national television and radio programs in addition to securing a spot on this years bill for the highly esteemed NPR Music Showcase at SXSW in Austin, TX.

In 2007, Blind Pilots founding members Israel Nebeker (vocals, guitar) and Ryan Dobrowski (drums) embarked on a West Coast bicycle tour, playing mostly to unfamiliar listeners at small-town venues. The duos grassroots touring initiative helped pave the way for national performances on NPRs "Morning Edition" and "All Songs Considered" as well their first TV appearance on "Last Call with Carson Daly." In March 2009, Blind Pilot was hand-selected to play NPRs annual SXSW showcasea much-anticipated event.

Blind Pilots folk-pop/indie rock music has since caught the attention of many helping them to secure the opening slot for this summers The Decemberists tour. For the tour, Nebeker and Dobrowski will round out Blind Pilots sound as a six-piece with fellow Oregonians Luke Ydstie (upright bass, backing vocals), Kati Claborn (banjo, dulcimer, backing vocals), Ian Krist (vibraphones) and Dave Jorgensen (keyboards, trumpet).

The summer tour comes at the heels of their first U.S. tour in support of their debut full-length album, 3 Rounds and a Sound, which was released on Expunged Records. The track "Go On, Say It" was named Single of the Week on iTunes. In addition to supporting The Decemberists, Blind Pilot will open a series of tour dates for acclaimed singer and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird, Gomez, and Josh Ritter. Blind Pilot will also perform at the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in San Francisco.
