| |  A good music video should add a dimension to a song you never knew was there, like turning on the lights in a dark room. Dawn Landes' video for "Young Girl" does precisely that. Building off the fuzzed out and twangy hoedown hook of the song, Landes' video builds a southern noir atmosphere around it. Helped by 1960's style directing and a dark and grainy film filter, the video for "Young Girl" bridges the two worlds Landes is writing from: her Kentucky past and her New York City present. What's nice though is as enveloped in a Deep South atmosphere as it is, it never takes itself too seriously.
