made an appearance at Terminal 5 last night as the first headliner for Fueled By Ramen's 15th Anniversary series of shows. Despite the controversial departure of the Farro brothers, founding members of the band, and the revelation that front-woman Haley Williams is the only member of the band actually signed to Atlantic Records, Paramore entered 2011 with a determination to release new music and continue their hot streak as one of the world's most beloved lady-fronted pop rock acts. Williams is a natural performer, bouncing around the stage acting as her own hypeman, inciting claps and rampant sing alongs to Paramore's most infamous hits, notably their 2007 album Riot!
, and their new song "Monster". Despite the plethora of all-ages in attendance, the four-deep bill of openers (although one of which was the wonderful Fun, with Nate Reuss formally of The Format and Jack Antonoff of Steel Train), and the impressive oven-like temperature of T5, the show was dope. And hey, no lines for the bar!
A lot of nostalgic shows tend to disappoint (especially for the older, more music savvy crowd) but Hayley Williams sounds terrific and the band was as tight as Williams' red pants. Best of both worlds, thoroughly enjoying a show AND being able to say "hey I totally ace this song on Rock Band
". (Joking! Kind of!)
The band dropped a brand new song, reportedly off their forthcoming 2012 LP. It's called "Renegade".
MTV was there filming the whole ordeal. Check out "Misery Business" for a good idea of how amped up this crowd was:
Oh and "Brick By Boring Brick" is always great (from their 2009 album Brand New Eyes
Stay tuned for Paramore (get it?).
