Seattle based up-and-comers
The Moondoggies have released the first track of their forthcoming sophomore album
Tidelands as a free download. The track unfolds in a more or less linear fashion, starting off with some subtle electric guitar and somber lyrics, gradually building in pace and density to a climax rich with keyboards, wonderfully harmonized vocals, and drums, and finally taking the tempo gradually down to end the song. The structure leaves the song feeling a bit short but it is otherwise excellent.
The Moondoggies' album is set to drop on October 12th on Hardly Art, but can be pre-ordered
here through the label. The band will be touring the US in support of the album from late October through November with Dawes.
The group has also recently released a short documentary discussing their history and approach for MTV's $5 Cover series on the band's hometown Seattle music scene. It can be seen below or on the band's website. -
