  • A new Death Cab For Cutie track can be yours on 9/13, before it's available digitally. The only catch? You have to preorder the New Moon soundtrack to get it.

Our blood pressure is only slightly tweaked by this revelation, whereas it was nearly imploded upon viewing the blasphemous closing credits to the original Sparkles: A Vampire Love Story Twilight, which featured music by Thom Yorke and the mostly living boys of Radiohead. Ugh. At least it wasn't customized. Knowing that Death Cab willingly crafted a tune for the movie? From the (grudgingly visited) Stephanie Meyer homepage:

"We are very excited to be a part of this amazing series of novels set in our own backyard. It just seemed a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest. We wrote 'Meet Me On the Equinox' to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters. This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film and we are proud to be a part of the Twilight legacy." -Nick Harmer (Death Cab for Cutie)

You can get a limited edition pre-order of the album 72 hours in advance of the October release date, the MP3, and a bunch of extras including a sticker sheet for the low low price of $500. It's funny because we're serious.- joe puglisi
