There's something about the phrase, "The Birds Are Singing At Night," that carries almost apocalyptic or prophetic weight. It sounds like something a character on the first (read: good) season of True Detective
might have uttered just before some cataclysmic development in character or plot. It sounds like something a wizened old man in oil-stained coveralls with a chaw stuck in his mouth might utter at a run-down gas-station as the sun is setting over the Appalachian mountains and he can feel a storm coming in because it's making his false hip act up. But it's not those things. It's the title of the gorgeous new track from folk-rockers Lord Huron
, and you're going to want to listen to it STAT.
