Thom Yorke announced on the
Radiohead blog that he started a new band to perform his catalogue of solo tunes. The line-up includes R.E.M. drummer
Joey Waronker, Radiohead producer
Nigel Godrich, percussionist/multi-instrumentalist
Mauro Refosco, and (what?)
Flea, the bassist of the
Red Hot Chili Peppers. Two shows have already been booked for October 4 and 5 at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. Yorke wrote on the "we don't really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz ..well ...we haven't got that much material yet!". That should be an interesting night.
In other collaboration news,
James Mercer front man of
The Shins has just announced he will be releasing a new album with super producer
Danger Mouse next year on Columbia. The duo recently collaborated on "Insane Lullaby" off the
Danger Mouse + Sparklehorse album
Dark Night of the Soul, but evidently their new project (for now they are calling it Broken Bells) will extend beyond just one album.
One last addition:
Lil' Wayne will make a guest appearance on
Weezer's Raditude, hopefully rapping and not auto-singing. Knowing him, it is probably a combination of both.-
