Yes, this is Gloria Estefan's daughter. We're getting that out of the way because Emily Estefan
is her own entity, and damn, she's proving it with this new single. "Reigns (Every Night)" follows Estefan's official debut single "F#ck To Be" from last year, and will appear on her first album Take Whatever You Want
in 2017. If you've listened to just five seconds of this song, I don't need to tell you how catchy the instrumental groove is. And if you've listened to ten seconds, I don't need to tell you that this girl has a set of pipes that could give you goosebumps. What I do need to tell you is that Estefan played every instrument on this recording, and produced it herself.
You may not have known not to fuck with Emily Estefan yesterday, but you better learn today. The young singer/songwriter solidified something with this track, as anyone who hears will know. Around the three-minute mark, after Estefan declares one last time that shes "gon' take the reigns," you'll hear someone in the background shout "Wooh! Yeah, baby!" That right there might be all you can say as you watch her go. She can write. She can sing. She can produce. She can work hard and do it herself. And she may very well be taking the reigns soon enough, not inheriting a legacy but snatching one of her very own.
