Where hick nation prides itself on rigorous religious beliefs and red, white, and blue patriotism, Ha Ha Tonka strip the realities of meth use, highway strip joints, socio economic hardships, and backwoods prejudice out of the cozy, faux-fairytale the breadbasket has told to itself, and the rest of the country, and sets them to a sound that sweats and swaggers like the best boozy bar band in the county. Blistering, Saturday night ready riffs, sanctified four part harmonies, and a rhythm section that rattles the cars in the parking lot
one listen to these Wild, Midwestern natives and their recently released
Buckle in the Bible Belt (
Bloodshot), and you can almost begin to feel the glow of neon beer signs on the back of your neck.
