With so many Lorde's, Sky Ferreira's, and Solange's inundating pop music charts these days, it's evident that a certain level of talent and/or unique qualities are required for a female solo artist to break. A particular singer-songwriter of such caliber, Diane Birch first gained national recognition for her debut album Bible Belt in 2009, and in two weeks, she'll be unveiling its follow-up, entitled Speak A Little Louder (10/15).

Birch is actually an old friend of Baeble's, as she was an early visitor at our Guest Apartment, where she pounded away at the piano keys and belted out three soulful tunes off her debut. In Speak A Little Louder, Birch kicks up her hymnal haunt with a voice eerily akin to a young Stevie Nicks. We're pleased to share with you the freshest song off the record, "Frozen Over", which combines the voice of an epic era with a upbeat, yet woeful, clanking rhythm reminiscent of Yeasayer's "Fingers Never Bleed". Listen below:

Speak A Little Louder is due out October 15th on S-Curve Records. Pre-order your copy here.
