announced another 700 artists set to perform at next month's festival and this year is turning out to be as varied as years past. As always, the festival features mainly rising acts but still manages to keep it interesting with some seasoned vets. The list of rising acts goes on and on with names people may be familiar with such as Surfer Blood
along with hundreds that you have most likely never heard of. Some of the headlining artists that were announced today include GZA
from the Wu-Tang Clan and the critically acclaimed Indie outfit, Phoenix
. I'm personally super pumped looking forward to the seeing Black Sheep
, the critically acclaimed 90s hip-hop group.
As most of you may know, the festival goes beyond providing you with the happy marriage of sweet concerts and drink specials. CMJ weekend is also known for its long list of informative panels and fantastic indie films and documentaries. So if you need a short break from the weekend's audio assault, peek into a panel to hear someone who knows more than you discuss a topic that you're most likely interested in. The films have yet to be announced but the panel topics have been so check up on the website for the descriptions.
Baeble will be hosting a few of their own shows (as we've mentioned). On October 21st and 22nd, we will be putting on and filming performances at Rockwood Music Hall on the Lower East Side. However, attendance at these two will be on an invite only basis (with a few lucky fans snagging invites). Lucky for you, we will also be having a day party that's open to the public on Saturday October 23rd at Bowery Electric. We should be announcing the lineup very soon, stay tuned!
The location and timing of the shows, panels and films have yet to be announced so check back in with the CMJ official website as those are posted over the next few weeks.-brendan mehan
